The Digitalisation/‘Botisation’ of Companies

Is process robotisation an option? According to Diogo Fortes, Implementation Manager at Voltarion, it’s a necessity. Learn more about Diogo’s opinion about this subject.

In today’s economy, companies are facing a crucial dilemma: time urges them to digitalise/robotise (through bots) processes but how should they go about it? Which tools should be used? A ‘state-of-the-art’ solution? And more importantly, how should it be implemented?

The popular approach only takes into consideration cost, functionalities and the equipment necessary to accomplish the goal in question.

But what about the existing processes? Will they fit in with the new approach?  What about internal and external communication with departments or applications? Will it be at least as efficient as it is today? And should the users themselves not be part of the solution? What are the risks? Have they been considered? Is there a roadmap for the implementation?

These are some of the issues that can be identified in our operation. Make no mistake about it; the process of digitalisation/‘botisation’ is a necessity rather than an option. Nevertheless, to successfully accomplish this goal in a short period of time, it is essential to have a strong governance model and the full cooperation of all parties involved.

‘State-of-the-art’ solutions with beautiful interfaces and mobile applications are great, but they are useless if they are not adequate to your processes or if you cannot show their real value.

Rather than just deploying a tool, companies must focus on implementing the right tool in the most appropriate way and in conjunction with the right form of organisational transformation.
